Beauty and the Beast: Mashed Potatoes

Mashed Potatoes


Mashed Potatoes are a natural with any steak, but it is even more so with Steak Diane as the potatoes pick up the flavor of the sauce.


  • 2 Baking Potatoes
  • 2 T butter
  • 1-2 T Milk or Half and Half or Cream
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Special Equipment

  • Potato Masher or Potato Ricer
  • Peeler or Paring Knife


Peel the potatoesPeel the potatoes.
Cut the potatoes into 1" slicesCut them into 1" slices.
Boil the potatoes Boil the potatoes for approximately 10 minutes, or until cooked through.
Drain the waterDrain the water.
Return the potatoes to the potReturn the potatoes to the pot.
MashMash the potatoes.
Add 2 T of butterAdd 2 T or more of butter. Continue mashing.
Add milk or half and halfAdd 1-2 T of milk or half and half to the potatoes.
Mash and serveMash until a creamy consistency is achieved.
